It's not a typical day to day boutique it's all about Class and Style. It's Bijan.

Its hard to explain 5 stars come from the whole experience matching the quality and fit of the end product. It is extremely expensive- NO DOUBT- but it is extremely satisfying. No time loss, no corners cut, no re-fitment needed. Some people would say for that much money it better be!! But the reality is that for that much money it more than often is not product matches the price with service and quality.

I recently stopped in at Bijan after some beautiful fabrics caught my eye as I was walking by. Let me first say, there were some incredible garments in the store. Rich, vibrant colors and exquisite cloth filled the place. Unfortunately, the sales experience distracted in a significant way from the beauty of the store. The attendant was in my space the entire time and not in a helpful way. Like anyone who enjoys fine menswear, I like to take my time, inspect the garments and their construction and take in the beauty of these items. Every time I began looking at a jacket, the attendant would take it out of my hands before I could get a close look and show me the least important details. After only a few moments of this he would try to forcefully drag me to another part of the store to show me what else they had. I had to ignore his beckoning on multiple occasions just to spend 60 seconds looking at what I actually wanted to be looking at. I thought the attendant working with me might just be a little overzealous, but the store manager was standing nearby and was aware of the whole process. It became clear after about 10 minutes in the store that they were just methodically moving me down the price spectrum to see if they could get a bite at each level. By the end, they made the assumptive close move that I would be buying a very beautiful tie they showed me. How could I even know what I wanted given I only spent 30-60 seconds with any of the items? On top of this, when I asked the attendant what Italian mill the cloth was coming from he didn't even know what I was talking about. I also asked how they can justify the price of some of the garments ($15,000 for an off the rack suit jacket, silk lining I think) when you can get an incredible bespoke experience for $8,000-$10,000 (for a full suit). The manager proceeded to gaslight me by saying that the bespoke experience is made up in order to make it seem more special. It takes many hours of work and three fittings by what is essentially a professional artist/artisan to have a bespoke suit created, and somehow I should pick something off the rack because a few presidents have purchased here? This was, unfortunately but rather fittingly, a very "Vegas" experience. All of the external focus and very little substance. If you are a lover of true menswear, please for the love of God go spend your money on Saville Row or any number of Italian classic houses. There you will experience what true passion and artisanship look like.

Forget all the other so-called "high end" designers - Bijan is the real deal. Nicolas, the owner and son of founder Bijan Pakzad, is a true gentleman and down to earth guy. I first became fully acquainted with this legendary establishment living in Beverly Hills and visiting the original location on Rodeo Drive, which was opened in 1976. Along with Fred Hayman, Bijan Pakzad was responsible for elevating high end designer fashion, and Rodeo Drive, to the world renown status it enjoys today. Described as "the most expensive boutique in the world" many may be intimidated by this, but this is a family run business, the Pakzads are amazingly warm and generous people who treat all their customers equally, whether you are a celebrity, a President, or just some local guy like me. And when our kids were doing their annual fund raiser at school guess which was the ONLY local business who contributed? Bijan! Exquisite and impeccable - Class, character and respect - these are the words that come to mind when I reflect on Bijan. And now visitors and locals in Las Vegas have the opportunity to experience this as well. And it doesn't matter if you cannot afford to wear Bijan, you can appreciate the fact such things exist. I must end this review with a simple congratulations to Nicolas Bijan himself. Being the son of a legendary designer and inheriting the business is no small task - one might assume it would be hard to step out of his father's shadow. Such as not been the case. Yes, he carries on the memory of his father with grace and respect, but he has stepped into his own and made Bijan his own over these past nine years. Bijan will be around for a long time, and that's a nice feeling.
