Wouldn't recommend as their customer service was unhelpful in trying to get information from and after several emails back and forth they ignored specific questions I was asking. I'd been out on medical leave, fell behind in payments, my loan was sent to another company for collection who in turn made payments to National Ed Servicing on my behalf. However, I was never informed that although I was paying the third party faithfully every month because of a portion still owing from when I was out on medical leave my credit was "dinged" each month and reported as late to the credit bureau by National Ed. I tried to get National Ed to remove some of the black marks on my credit but they refused. This was a small student loan but the collection fines and fees added a great deal of $ to the balance. Loan was transferred to yet another company in 6/2017 and I was able to pay that off in full. However, the marks on my credit were pretty substantial and have yet to age off from my credit report.

This company is deceiving. I have made 87 payments with roughly $150-200 of the payment going to my balance to reduce it. 87 payments in and my balance has gone UP. It does not make sense. When I called the company, the rep had no idea how to fix it. When asked for a Manager, they said no one was available. I called the next day and requested the President of the company. The President of the company did not know how to resolve the situation as he stated he does not handle situations like this (even though he is the President and should have a grasp on all aspects of the company). When I told him this does not make sense, he said he was not sure and would look into it. My thought is, what is there to look into, your company is taking my money each month with out me paying down my loans. There are issues and it did not seem as though I was getting the respect and urgency on this situation. At this time, I am waiting on a resolution, I am very displeased with the company and how this has been handled to date. I would love to write another review showing how well they take care of this situation for me, but based on my current situation and trust/expectations with the company it does not look promising.

Thanks goes out to National Education for helping me through the mess that has become my student loan repayment debacle. I had no idea all the options available to me given the tough financial situation and hardship I've been in. While Citi and Sallie continue to harass me, I now know something about my rights and options since speaking to one of National Education's reps (my education continues).Citi has suddenly become more helpful and willing to defer and forbear my account until I can get back on my feet. Did they think I was kidding when I told them I was out of work???? Also, it is SOOOOO refreshing to call a customer service center and reach a LIVE person without having to listen to a long, drawn out greeting with 9 options and then get carried to another set of 5 options, and yet another all the while searing at the greeting and frantically pressing zero.

Lucky me! I have a boatload of student loans! And while I may have "paid" for college on my lonesome...private schools don't come cheap...I know, shocking. So, yep...I have a bunch of money to repay over the next 100 years of my existence. So National Ed has my consolidated federal loans. The benefit is...they are located in Chicago, have a local phone number, and someone live actually ANSWERS the phone to talk to me. Novel. So whenever I have an issue, I can just ring them up, and get it solved in the same day, usually the same hour. Payments can be made through the website, and actual live people IN CHICAGO talk to you. Not india. People that don't make you spell "Illinois" when you tell them what school you went to, etc. (yes, that happened to me elsewhere)My arch nemesis Sallie (of Sallie Mae private loans) is a real beeyotch, so I have plenty of basis for comparisonThe good news on student loans is...if you die, your loans are null and void because the education obtained is no longer valid. Cheery, eh!?
