Hello all, I came to Blessed Beginnings from the Call of God about 6 months ago and will never regret the decision I have made. It was by chance that I met Pat the previous owner who saw something in me that she felt was valuable enough to add quality to the center. I was working for another center as their director and had just finished cleaning up the school along with my team of executive leaders, teachers and management staff. It took us 3 years to clean that center up and make it the quality center it is today. After much prayer, and a blessing from my boss, I made the decision to come over to Blessed Beginnings and make a difference by using the gifts God gave me, not worrying about the fact that I would have to give up my salary and work at a center with a challenging reputation to do this. The first few months were difficult without a salary but I continued to trust in God. Since being at Blessed Beginnings we have come such a long way but how many know that Rome was not built in a day? I have been tackling issues the same way you eat an elephant, one bite at a time. Each time an issue is released a few more may come through the door but it helps me to know more than ever that Blessed Beginnings is where I belong. Today I am still tackling blessed beginnings but the difference is now I am working full time for another organization that will eventually help add quality to Blessed Beginnings. I am also trying to finish up a Doctorate Degree in Early Childhood Education and teach for a few college programs. Since being here we have accomplished the following goals: Brand new playground Brand new roof Brand new air conditioning Donation of many toys and furnishings Community clean up project Partnering with various quality organizations Approval of non-profit 501 (c) (3) status Although we have accomplished all of that, there is still so much more that needs to be done; Replacement of ceiling tiles Painting to the interior and exterior Full staff development Full program development Purchase of new curriculum and materials Over the course of 6 months we have accomplished so much but have discovered so much that still needs to be done. This can create impatience and frustration to say the least among stakeholders like parents and staff who are so important to our organization. The one thing I can say is that the love for children is there and will never leave. The desire to do better is there and will grow forever. Help is needed as this will definitely take a village. This is a God led ministry that wants to do right in the community and develop programs to be a part of the solution and not the problems. Our true mission is that children in this community will have quality early childhood experiences. As the new Executive Director of this promising organization I proudly say that today we are at three stars in my opinion from the one star we were in when God placed me and Pat in each others lives. Her mere plea to me told me that she had the center's best interest at heart. She is there from open to close because she cares that much for the families we serve. We are praying and doing as much as possible to earn the next few stars bringing us up to five stars and becoming a center for all in this community to love. Again, I am thankful for all experiences be they positive or negative as this is a new journey for me and a different direction for Pat. I appreciate the learning that each experience has brought to my attention. To those who may have felt a negative experience with Blessed Beginnings, I truly apologize and hope that you would see fit to forgive us as we are on our learning journey. I am a huge believer in second chances which was the entire reason I left my comfortable position to come and help, because this center deserves a second chance. I am thankful to all who have come through the doors of Blessed Beginnings and for all of the prayers and support that we continue to receive. Please continue to pray for us. Sincerely, Denise Richardson, M.Ed.
