Dr Cottom himself was very pleasant and thorough. However, I had wanted 1 particular procedure for my neuroma. It said on the website that they performed it and I told the doc that as what I wanted. I returned the following week thinking that Id get the first injection, only to be told that their practice does not do it,. This was after I drove 115 miles each way two times. They could have saved me the trips by saying upfront that they didnt do it. The staff that I saw were very nice.

I have had an ankle issue for almost months. I initially went to a podiatrist who recommended to ice it, take alleve, and elevate it. I was informed to come back in 6 months if pain didn't subside. Needless to say, it still hurt and was hindering me from walking, zumba etc. I went to Dr. Cottom and immediately was given several x-rays. They showed it could be scar tissue or a cyst. Next step is MRI to be definitive. In the interim, I am wearing a medical wrap which has helped. He appears to be a very thorough doctor which is what I was looking for.

Dr. Cottom and his staff are caring, and very proficient at what they do. His office and scheduling is well run and on time. In fact, I often arrived early for my appointments and many times I was escorted to my exam room 5-10 minutes prior to my appointment time. For one routine, after-surgery follow-up, I saw Dr. Cottom and was able to leave his office before my actual appointment time. I had a total ankle replacement in 2023, am free of pain and have regained my active lifestyle. I highly recommend Dr. Cottom as he is very proficient in what he does, is compassionate, kind and truly cares about his patients. I did a lot of research before I chose Dr. Cottom. I found out that he is one of the best in the USA. I found he was the first in the USA to perform a state-of-the-art Hintermann Series ankle implant, right here at Lakewood Ranch Hospital, and trains other surgeons all over the USA. I also found he had an excellent reputation, completing more than 900 total ankle replacements. When I met Dr. Cottom I was bone-on-bone in my ankle and in a lot of pain, so he used ultrasound guided injections in my ankle to relieve the pain until I could have surgery. During my surgery, Dr. Cottom used platelet-rich plasma created from my own blood to speed healing, after the surgery Dr. Cottom used something called MLS laser therapy to reduce pain, inflammation, and speed healing. On my 11 month ankle surgery follow-up, I told Dr. Cottom that I was dealing with what an MRI revealed was a medium tear in my rotator cuff and that I was doing PT to try to heal it without surgery. I asked Dr. Cottom if the laser therapy he used on my ankle would help my rotator cuff and he said,"Yes, I just used it on my father-in-law after his rotator cuff surgery." I have completed 6 of 12 laser treatments on my rotator cuff so far and am already seeing a difference.
