Brookdale at Home Jacksonville

Been living at Brookdale Southside for over 4 years and love it here. The staff is very friendly and professional. Residents are treated with respect and there is a wide variety of services and programs offered here. Amenities are plentiful and the opportunity to share your experiences with other residents is welcome.

This is an older facility which does provide larger apartments and beautiful grounds; however, my mother constantly complains about the food. They have limited food choices and the quality has really deteriorated in the past few months. When the time comes to transition from independent to assisted living, we'll probably consider other providers.

They have stopped regular table service meals in the dining room because they don't pay enough to retain staff to serve the meals. The happy hour and group dining is the highlight of the day for my parents and they were sold on this when they moved in. They also had very inconsistent meals during covid in terms of quality. I would not recommend the place, and if you do come GET THE SERVICE COMTTMENTS IN WRiTING. (which they will refuse to do? Without a disclaimer saying they can cancel any all services at any time).
