Dr. Salam Salman is an expert in the field of TMJ disorders. I highly, highly recommend him and his team. I had a rare and invasive surgery done by Dr. Salman. Not only was he meticulous in the actual surgery, the scars are insanely precise. I have had two separate medical doctors comment on the skill of my surgeon from the incisions alone. He was so understanding from beginning to end, and he made sure I felt comfortable at every stage of the process. As a note, I saw a lot of reviews commenting that this department and this doctor are not responsive to new appointment requests. Well, when you have a well-known, well-regarded department in a learning hospital, in addition to crazy talented surgeons like Dr. Salman, you are going to have to be patient. They are choosy with their cases, so I dont think everyone gets in. I would trust his opinion on TMJ over any other doctor, and Ive been to my fair share across multiple states. 10/10 recommend. Hes a brilliant, compassionate, and crazy talented surgeon.

I waited 3 months for my initial appointment for TMJ. Which is fine because I was told he is the only doctor in Jacksonville for it and only see's 2 patients on 1 day in a week. I went in for my first appointment on 8/9/21. I was told they wanted to do an MRI and as soon as my insurance approved it then we could get started on fixing my TMJ as I am in tremendous jaw pain every single day. I was also told specifically at my appointment to not worry, even though it took a few months to get in the door, my next appointment would be quick since now I am an established patient. It seemed like a great first appointment. The doctor was very nice. At the beginning of September, my insurance declined my MRI at first but after I appealed and even expedited my appeal, they approved it for me. I have called Dr. Salmans office so many times since then to be scheduled for my MRI. I have left messages for him, his assistant, the front desk, and a few other voicemails I have been transferred to. I have not heard anything. It's now the end of the year. 4 months after my first appointment. And 3 months after being approved by my insurance. I have heard nothing from them. I'm so disappointed and in so much pain.
