Centennial Gardens

One of my favorite formal gardens has changed a lot since I last visited but still a very peaceful place to sit ...hate that people let their dogs off leash here not picking up the poop

I didn't realize this was here until a recent bike ride took me by it and I decided to hop off for a quick look around. Great idea, poorly executed! I don't know if it doesn't get attention because of low visitorship, or if Parks are just generally spread too thin to support such an ambitious undertaking, but initially I thought it wasn't maintained and then I saw that it was lightly-maintained? Still the fountains were not running, and some sections of the 'labyrinth' (not a true maze, don't get your hopes up) section that should have been ornamental were not. The style is meant to be similar to the Gardens of Versailles with geometric patterns and hedges interspersed to separate areas, and with water features interspersed. So neat idea, poorly executed. I probably won't stop again unless I am able to see the fountains running... And, even then?
