Avis Car Rental

Prepaid for my rental. Arrived at 6:30pm and had to wait TWO hours in-line with my 3 children to even speak with an employee. Got to the front of that 2 hours line, employee told me my class of vehicle was not 7 seater and only 5 - despite showing her the info on the site that states 7 seats on my rental. And also they didnt have any 7 seater AWD drive vehicles (what I paid for) left. Offered me a 5 seater, went to get it, it wasnt even there. Came back, she told me that this missing one was the last one available in my prepaid class and there were also no other suitable vehicles available that would fit my family and luggage in them. My husband roamed the lot looking for a suitable car that might fit us and came back and suggested one, so we walked away with smaller, lower class car then we paid for. We literally felt like we had no choice- it would be dangerous to trek to 78th in the dark to get a ride service with the luggage and 3 children at night and the other choice she gave me was to wait a further TWO hours in case my class vehicle might become available. Sorry but NO Avis. Do better. Just do better. We are people not just a revenue stream. One of my children has needs that are over and above the typical child- sometimes referred to as special needs. The reason we prepay is so we can avoid the unknown and absolute screw ups like this. I absolutely unequivocally will not use AVIS again.

Upgraded to a lovely (new) car at minimal additional cost. Very friendly staff (Denver). Outstanding experience all round.

The WORST! Arrived at 9pm to pick my car up. Approximately 20 people in line and 15+ sleeping on the floor near the windows. After 15 minutes, I noticed NO ONE was behind the counters and the line never moved. I found one employee and asked what was going on. She said, "I think we ran out of cars and majority of the employees went home!" I asked how long of a wait I might have, she said they should have some more cars by 6am! The management at this location should be totally embarrassed! Thank God for Lyft. I ended up taking one. I had to go stand on 78th street for the Lyft since they were not allowed to enter the lot. I guess they were afraid of someone coming on the lot stealing non-existent cars?
