I've been a member for a couple of months. For the price the facilities are definitely adequate - a bunch of cardio machines, a 3 lane pool, weight equipment. The women's locker room is pretty spacious, the showers only a little bit gross. Staff are very pleasant. I like the in-house shampoo a lot. What I really go for are the classes, though. I mostly do spin and Pilates. There are a range of instructors in both - I really enjoy Coco for spin. She gives a tough program, but without a bootcamp feel. If you're looking for an easier zen ride narrated by a soft voice and very much tied to the (excellent) music Rob is your guy. If you're looking to be yelled at a little, Eli is great. For Pilates, I've had both Heather and Ana once and they both give a great, difficult class. Noe is a little easier, though I wish he would instruct by example more than he does.

Let me be frank. This gym is frustrating, and I'm thinking of leaving. The staff are mostly nice. I've never had a trainer, so can't comment. My feedback is on the facility and the general customer service. 1) First equipment upkeep is an issue. Something about a machine is typically broken, whether it be the cable connection, but headphone buds, or the piece of equipment itself. Multiple times i have been charged a bonus fee of ~$25 because of increased costs of managing or repairing equipment, and to me this shows mismanagement. As a customer, i should not have to be changed incremental because costs came in higher than expected - that is what annual / monthly dues, and correct biz management are for. 2) The real issue here is the customer service. The biggest example of this is currently the mens locker room is closed with NO expectation of when it will be fixed. A gym with no shower, and no bathroom... (They argue with me and tell me there is a bathroom, because i can get a key and use a public bathroom downstairs in the parking garage...are you kidding me??) I can't swim and shower. I can't run on treadmills and shower. I can't lift weights and WASH MY HANDS! I've been a member of the gym for 3 years and have been thru ups and downs of steam room being broken for weeks on end. treadmills and spin bikes being broken indefinitely. The pool being drained and/or the heater being broken (BRRR), but this is the worst. They tell me there are other club ones within walking distance that i can attend...but i chose this gym because of the pool and convenience, and the other 'options' which are significantly further with no pool don't meet my needs. I offered suggestions about alternating male / female days or hours of the day, or other crappy solutions to help manage a crappy situation, but were rebuffed. I'm pretty much done making the best of a bad situation. My name is attached. If they contact me, or make an effort, i'll update my review, but until they do, steer clear of this gym and any other club one in the city. If this is any indication they are mismanaged, and don't really give a crap for their customers or the service they provide.

Overall, I'm super pleased with joining Yerba Buena Club One! I especially love the staff. I wish I knew the names of the people - there are 2 guys that have been there forever and it just feels really nice going to a happy gym. I've gone to their classes, used their pool, used their weights, elliptical, treadmills. I also added the citywide option and used a few other gyms--- Embarcadero, Union Square, and Petaluma (unfortunately with a $10 charge). All in all, I'm fairly happy. My raves: * no locker break ins. I've heard lockers at 24hour fitness getting cracked into. * the staff * the knowledgable teachers for the classes * they have the older ellipticals in the back * they have treadmills in the back with adjustable TV screens What could be improved: * pool area is so windy! (but there's always Union Square nearby) * Women's shower room is kinda gross! * Hours are not the best * I hate the high prices, but since no one has ever broken into my locker and stolen anything, I think that in itself helps justify the cost * no stretch machine (just a dumb one like the one sitting by the stairwell in the Embarcadero area) * the pool signup sheet blegh. The pool is also a bit cold (maybe because of the wind)
