This is a long due review. I love this coder school. My daughter enjoys it. If you have a child that is curious, or interested in coding this is the place. Allen the manager will evaluate if it's a fit for your child to attend the school. He told us this is something serious, they don't want you wasting their time and your money too. My daughter has been coding since she's 8 with them. She's 12 now and still enjoys doing it. She was able to continue her lessons during pandemic over Zoom. They are very accommodating. I told him we might be moving, she might need to do remote again. He's willing to work with us on that should we need it. If you can't make a lesson, just give them 24 hours notice, then you won't be charged. My husband and I don't code, we don't help my daughter out. Sometimes she would get a little homework, because I ask for it. Overall you get your money's worth and everyone there is super nice too. The place is clean too.

My 5th and 7th graders having been coming to the Coder School for over a year. Both of them like their teachers, Jacky and Caroline, so much that I'm making the trip here twice a week so that they can each stay with their respective teacher. The low student teacher ratio allows the teacher to really understand their level and teach at their pace. They've learned Python, HTML, amongst other languages, to create games and websites that they're proud to show me after class. Bonus, the manager, Allen, is awesome and super easy to communicate with. Highly recommend!

My son loves to code and I have The Coder School to thank for that. Coding on Mondays with his best friend and an instructor is his favorite after school day. Having only 2 kids with one instructor means everyone gets lots of one on on time and can really learn the nuts and bolts of the language or project they are working that day. It keeps the kids engaged and learning fast.

Kids (and adults!) play way too many video games nowadays. We were happy when we saw that The Coder School had opened up in West Portal. We were thinking about attending another program on the other side of the City. We wanted our kid to spend some time on the other side building these things, and he was definitely interested in trying. We've been happy with the place. Allen is always welcoming, and makes you and your kid feel at home. My kid has been working with Carolyn, who knows her stuff and gets along well with my kid. As a self-confessed (sometimes!) helicopter parent, I am usually there when my kid has class trying to get some work done. I can hear other lessons going on, and can tell that the coaches are knowledgeable, and able to work well with the kids. We have never taken group lessons, so my experience is with the private / semi-private lessons. We recommend them.

The Coder School at West Portal has been a phenomenal find for my kids. My 8-year-old had gone as far as he could by himself on code.org and really needed a coach. Rather than a one size fits all approach, the Coder School assessed him, realized how far along he was, and provided the individualized coaching he needed at his level and speed. He has now been coached for a year and a half and continues to love going weekly! He's now 9 and learning Python. Meanwhile my daughters were a little more intimidated to try it. Female coding coaches won them over. Again, the individualized attention and ability to create what they imagine has them hooked. Attending Coder School each week is a special treat my kids look forward to. Thank you Coder School for making learning so fun!
