I"ve been working with Larissa Anthony for years. Her and her MA Nicole are just amazing. I can't express enough gratitude for the exceptional care I received from there. I always feel heard and support. Larissa possesses a wealth of knowledge but also has a great deal of compassion and empathy. She always takes the time to listen attentively to all of my concerns and provides clear explanations every step of the way. I've had many health issues and she has been with me on the journey to help with all of them Most recently I've had the Inspire Implant and she is working with Natalie Perrone who is the Inspire resp who is at all my appointments now until we get my implant/device where it needs to be. These ladies are brilliant. I've impressed with Inspire for being so involved with the patients. Overall, over the years Larissa has demonstrated a genuine commitment to my well-being by devising a personalized treatment plan that addressed my specific needs and concerns. Her expertise in pulmonary medicine is evident, and I have always felt confident in her recommendations. I highly recommend Larissa to anyone seeking top-notch pulmonary care. She and Nicole have my umost respect and gratitude. ( As well as Natalie Perrone from Inspire)

I am not new to medicine, I have practiced medicine as a PA for over 15 years. What is new to me is a medical practice that has chosen to care more about their bottom line than the wellbeing of their patients. I was referred to Pulmonary Associates by my PCP for the evaluation of post-COVID cough and breathing issues. I was told at the time of scheduling that my insurance does not allow me to see a PA or NP, I have to see an MD or DO and was scheduled accordingly in 6 weeks. After speaking to my insurance carrier, I am assured that I can see anyone I want, MD, DO, PA, NP. On my second call to Pulm Assoc they decide to be honest with me and inform me that per their billing policy I can only see and MD. The message is clear; we do not care about you or your difficulties, we care most about being able to bill your insurance for the maximum possible. Again, in my 15 years of medical practice I have never seen this kind of shameless greed. Message received, this is not a practice I can trust, appointment cancelled.

Hello Aaron. My sincerest apologies for the miscommunication. I do want to assure you that our patients care is of the upmost importance to our practice. We always work to achieve getting the patients seen as quickly as possible by whomever they choose; however, there are some insurance plans that are physician ONLY driven. Please allow me to explain. You are correct, you are welcome to see whomever you choose; however, if you do see a PA or NP, you will be considered out of network by your plan as these providers are not contracted and your services will be denied. This in turn will leave you to be weighted with the financial burden of the costs for services. This is why it was expressed to you that you can only see a physician. It is our goal to minimize any unnecessary out of pocket costs for our patients. This truly is the ONLY reason we pushed for a physician vs a PA or NP. I will agree however that this likely was not communicated effectively to you, and I sincerely do apologize for that. In an effort to address your dissatisfaction, we did reach out to your insurance to clarify whether or not you could be seen by an NP or PA. They indicated that the only way to do that would be to do “incident to” billing. As a PA, I am sure you are familiar with that term. Our PAs and NPs see patients independently and do not do “incident to” billing; therefore, the best option is to be seen by a physician so that no patient out-of-pocket costs are assigned. This really has nothing to do with our physician’s bottom line, but rather the impact out of network costs has on our patients. There are only a few plans that are physician driven. We will schedule our patients as quickly as possible and with whomever they choose when an insurance plan does not impact our patients out of pocket costs. Our end result is to take care of our patients quickly and without unnecessary financial burden. Thanks for reaching out with your concerns. We do value your opinion. Please feel free to reach out with any additional concerns.Tammie Katzenmeier, CMPEPractice Administrator
