I have been dealing with back pain for as long as I can remember. Probably during the time I first received an X-Ray, when I was a teenager and I was diagnosed with Scoliosis in 2005. Although, thankfully the type of Scoliosis I have, did not stop me from being active like playing Basketball. Unfortunately though, the pain was starting to set in more in 2017. In 2017, it was the first time I had ever done Physical Therapy for my back pain. The place I went to then is called HonorHealth Outpatient Therapy - John C. Lincoln. It's been years to vividly remember my time there, but some things I actually do remember at least vaguely. At first, I started off with a female therapist and she seemed nice, but then she had me work with a male therapist (I believe he was getting hands-on experience for his schooling). He was nice, checked certain areas of my back, showed me a few exercises, as well as how to position a pillow under my stomach, and how to position my legs with the pillow between them to ease the pain on my back. Sadly, none of it seemed enough for my case though. I had an appointment with my PCP around that time and he asked me if PT was helping. I said no, so he told me to stop going. I don't remember how many sessions I had attended, but I did stop going before getting officially discharged. Fast forward to 2023, I began to complain about back pain again. This time, I was referred by one of my PCP's co-workers to Pain Management. Dr. Park, who is my pain doctor at The Pain Center - Arcadia, took the time to evaluate me. He felt Physical Therapy would be the first step to see if it helps before anything else like imaging was done. Since I was disappointed from my previous experience, I remember telling him "It's not going to work this time" He responded by saying, "It Will" So then came 2024, I had scheduled my first appointment at Banner Physical Therapy - South Arcadia on Jan 5th with Dr. Justin Becker. I gave this place a chance. I went ahead and did everything that was expected of me as a patient. The reason being was I came in with a pain level of 7, that all I was holding on to at that point was hope. I didn't even have the energy to make a judgement of the place, so I went with the flow. Now, I am writing this having been officially discharged since March 26th. I have completed 26 sessions and reached the goal of 100%, more than I could've imagined. I can truly say, I highly recommend this place and is completely different from the last place I went to for PT. During my journey, I had the privilege to work with Warren for my exercises. This gentleman pushes you to your limits, more than you think you can handle. In his famous words, "Motion is the best Lotion" Justin is quite the Jordan-Booker fan, who wants to help you feel pain free then how you first get there. And he makes sure you are doing your exercises correctly to benefit out of them. Lastly, a student of Justin, who is getting hands-on experience and was also my therapist, is Alex. She's a smart cookie, who has educated me about certain areas of my body when I would ask about the pain. I enjoyed my conversations with her as well as joking with her. It feels bittersweet to no longer be their patient, but I am still moving forward with the exercises they have taught me so I can do them at home or at any other respective fitness center. In a nutshell, this place is the true definition of work hard, play hard. The full package of good vibes, good people, music playing in the background which helped keep me motivated. I learned not to underestimate myself and due to being able to get an MRI done, I've also learned that my back is actually healthy! They all made a positive impact in my life. Thank you: Justin, Alex, and Warren. I will never forget you. I came in saying these two specific words and I'll end it off with this, - NO MERCY! :)
