Valleywise Community Health Center – South Phoenix/Laveen

I haven't been a patient of Valleywise for about 3 years now due to moving out of state. I just wanted to leave a review as I am having some health issues now and I realize I have a lot of trauma from being a patient here that make it incredibly hard for me to want to receive medical care. It pretty much all started when I got pregnant and started to come here. My OBGYN was Nyima Ali. At first I absolutley loved her. She was sweet and made me feel comfortable with my first and ONLY time being pregnant. She was my OBGYN the entire pregnancy, however thar changed after my pregnancy and I will touch on that shortly. During my time of pregnancy I came in to see my PC (I don't remember her name) because my hands and feet were extremly itchy. I did some research on my own and thought it might be cholestasis. Which is very rare. As I came in to see her, she did not make me feel heard or comfortable. She gaslight me and told me being itchy during pregnancy can be normal and because I didn't have scabs it couldn't be cholestasis. She outright denied the possibility. She didn't order a test to be done, I had went to Nyima and she did test me and it came back positive for cholestasis. I wasn't crazy. The rest of my pregnancy went great and I didn't have any issues with Nyima until about 3 years after my daughter was born. So in 2020 I came in to have the IUD she implanted removed. It was uncomfortable and I wouldn't be needing it as my husband would be away for 9 months. During our visit as we were walking to the back she made a remark on my weight. I've always been underweight due to genetics. No matter how much I eat nothing changed. She said in a very passive aggresive tone "You're even skinnier than the last time I seen you". As if it was to express disappointment. However her remark didn't hold up because looking at my charts I actuallly gained 10 lbs. She removed my IUD, tried to convince me to get on a different birth control and then before she left the room she said "Okay I'll see you when you're pregnant again" in another passive aggresive tone. This was all before this specific location was here in laveen and at the location on central. However, she still practices here. I loved Valley Wise until I began getting treating like this. I did end up getting a virtual visit in the midst of covid to get on birth control pills before moving out of state to be with my husband. However those didn't last long because the side effects weren't worth it. I still have yet to get pregnant again and I'm still not on birth control. To say the least I am dissapointed with the medical field as a whole but especially in Nyima Ali because I genuinely liked her and finally felt comfortable with some one in the medical field and listened to. I'm not sure if she was having a bad day or what but I felt labeled and like I was being stereo typed.

I dont think theyre aware its not a good idea to keep people in the single room for over hour. Most Valleywise staff are not friendly or maybe they are only friendly to setting people. New clinic and poor services.
