I would strongly recommend NOT staying at this hotel. We were racially profiled and discriminated against by the young, white, tall, male night clerk who was wearing glasses. I believe his name is Blake. We had a reservation and were already checked in and paid, but he wouldn't let us in the building even though we showed our room key. When we got him on the phone, he made my wife repeat her name three times before letting us in.
We were annoyed, and I asked why the front door was locked. The clerk said, "It's a security measure." In response, I rolled my eyes and replied, "That's bulls..." once in passing. I couldn't believe it, but he actually followed us down the hall, shouting threats. We kept walking toward our room, and he wouldn't shut up, so I told him to "f" off and go back to his job. His response? He sent armed state police to our room at 1.30 am to throw us out for trespassing.
We feel certain he thought my Navajo wife was a Mexican male... she gets that a lot. Either way, he refused to open the door when he saw a disabled person and a person of color. I spoke with both the black general manager, Latusha Maggit, and the East Indian owner, JagJit Kahlon, and requested a refund, but they both defended the white night clerk and refused to refund our money. Well, I hope that backfires on them spectacularly when they realize what kind of person the night clerk is.
During my phone conversation with Mr. Kahlon, he let it slip that a lot of people who stay here try to get refunds. I said that maybe he needed to make improvements to the hotel's service, but he was convinced all those people were trying to scam him. Yeah. Sure.
Both my wife and I have traveled quite a bit, and we have NEVER encountered a locked up hotel. But the entire building is locked at 8.45 p.m., so you will need to ask permission to enter the hotel. Your room key will not work on any of the doors either. I feel like if they are going to have crazy rules, they should inform guests at check-in or when making a reservation.
Management also claims to have full audio and video recording throughout the hotel. Who knows what kind of A/V equipment they have installed in the rooms!? If you value your privacy and safety, just absolutely do not stay at this hotel.
It's also a bit shabby.
UPDATE: I recently saw another review on this hotel that mentioned the night clerk kicking guests out of the lobby, saying it was closed. They were just talking quietly while waiting for a ride, but the clerk insisted they wait in their room. Since when do hotel lobbies close and guests are treated like prisoners? It sounded like the same guy we encountered. Something weird is going on at this hotel... really, don't stay here, I feel like it is a dangerous place.
Noteworthy details: Discrimination & weird policies. If you are disabled, a person of color, or part of the LGBTQIA+ community, your life may be in danger if you stay here. Read the reviews...
