DRC State-of-the-Art

We hired DRC to build a small addition, which included a full bathroom, office and mudroom. Dale was reasonable and flexible from the start, working from an existing set of plans that we had and adjusting standard job contract details to our liking. Dale was able to work with us on the price and we came to terms after some friendly negotiation. When we kicked off the project, some complications arose with the Water Dept to make a new sewer connection - Dale was able to get everyone on the same page and was very fair/transparent with some changes to the contract (which we knew were a possibility on this item). Despite some unavoidable delays with the sewer, Dale got the project back on track. His team was always available to answer questions and ask for our opinion. Dale allowed some minor changes to the plans throughout the process as he said would be possible. His team was receptive to being called out on a few issues that popped up (as to be expected) and addressed those hiccups without aggravation. Communication was great at each step of the way and I never felt out of the loop or uninvolved. His team also worked well with the building dept, and the permitting and inspection process went seamlessly. DRC finished the job within the timeframe and level of quality expected. And when we had a manufacturer issue with the mini-split air conditioner that was installed, Dale graciously reinstalled the new unit that the was given to us under the product warranty. I would definitely do business with DRC again. We completed a total demo and renovation of our master bathroom. Dale and his team were professional, responsive, and always bringing us ideas and solutions to enhance our goals for the dream bathroom. While all project have some glitches, Dale was able to do a great job in making sure he got things right and never cut corners. Thanks Dale!

I met Dale, the owner, a couple of years ago. He came to my home personally to meet me and my wife to discuss what we wanted to do to our home. I explained to him that we wanted a one stop shop for our remodel project and someone to interact with and hold accountable for every phase of the project. Well Dale was that person. He found the architect, submitted the permits to the city and worked with us every step of the way. He sent us 3D models on an iPad so we could look at the designs and pick the fixtures we wanted. During the height of the pandemic when contractors we walking away from jobs and leaving people high and dry, Dale was consistently available whenever i called and had questions. Dale provide excellent customer service and will continue to work with you until you are 100% satisfied. He is totally professional and to this day 2 years after our project was completed will come by and look at issues whenever i call him. Even for jobs that have nothing to do with the work he did for me, i still reach out to him for consultation and he is happy to help!. I have recommended dale to several friends and he has done outstanding work for them as well. If you are looking for a general contractor that will give you the personal touch and customer service we all desire, DRC state of the art, Dale is who you want to hire.

DRC State of the Art built a little addition for me last year that included a bathroom. Ill keep this short and to the point: my family and I have done a lot of work with contractors in our day and working with Dale Cox is by far the worst experience I have ever had. Point blank.

We initially hired DRC to complete some plans for an extensive renovation to our Scottsdale home. Dale made representations about their ability to do architectural plans, engineering calculations and also complete the construction. We should have read the signs early, he was an hour late to the initial meeting and then, during the next 9 months it took to get the plans finished, there were lots of mistakes and omissions. It felt like I was marking homework from a pre-schooler. Every time the next set of plans were provided there were omissions, mistakes and forgotten items we had spoken about at previous meetings where I had kept notes. Dale never turned up with any notes, never took any notes and rarely remembered anything we spoke about. His attention to detail is lacking and his pricing is ridiculous. He wanted $27k for a portable potty rental and $8k for a new hot water heater! The initial budget was $650k and this was confirmed to be still on track at a meeting in May (8 months in) where we requested an update as to when the plans would be finished and when we could get a bid. We finally got a partial bid in August after putting pressure on him, the bid came back at just under $1.3M (admittedly there were some optional additions included that would have reduced the price by circa $150k if removed) however the bid was still $500k over all of his estimates. We now have a set of plans that we paid $12.5k for that are useless as most of the items we designed were based on the pricing advice of Dale coming in at circa $650k. They will have to be re-done by a real builder. DRC pretends to be a one-stop-shop with all trades on staff, however, they work out of their house and rely upon outside trades to do all the work. It seems like DRC are a mom and pop outfit that are playing outside their lane. They need to keep putting up garden sheds and leave the real building to professionals.
