Chris is an emerging leader in the sustainability movement. As an undergraduate at UCF, Chris founded IDEAS (Intellectual Decisions on Environmental Awareness Solutions) which focuses on facilitating youth led environmental change initiatives. Chris developed IDEAS into a 501c3 non-profit that has expanded to 25 Universities and K-12 chapters in the United States, and into a United Nations officially accredited NGO with 12 international partnerships around the world. Over the past 4 years, Chris has focused his passion and efforts on transforming commercial buildings in Florida. Having obtained advanced training and industry certifications, Chris has worked with several clean energy companies to promote and integrate energy efficiency products. He has also held several energy positions, including interning at the US Department of Energy; Campus Outreach Coordinator for the UCF Sustainability & Energy Management Department; and as an Energy Specialist at Orange County government where he led Energy Benchmarks and Walk-through Assessments for 80 buildings. With this experience, Chris has helped to create an energy consulting firm called Citizen Energy, helping property owners and managers asses their performance, lower their operating cost and improve the value of commercial buildings throughout Florida. Lastly, Chris has been recognized for his efforts by several media outlets, and entities from the White House to TED keynotes.
