Being new to the world of glasses This is only my second eye exam, and I have to say the doctor here was amazing. He took the time to explain things go over myths I have heard and really make sure that my exam was dialed in, I couldn't be more thrilled with him. The downside to the process was the upselling of add-ons to each pair of glasses. Again I'm new to this so perhaps most already know this but my insurance company covered up to $140 of my first pair of glasses and I got half off the second pair. But unbeknownst to me there are additional features such as anti-glare, the blue screen filter and so on. These features can double the price of the glasses! I went in for a simple exam (paid extra for the exam so I didn't have to have my eyes dilated) I don't require much of a prescription and for two pairs of glasses with whatever add-ons the sales consultant recommended it was over $600 ( which does not include the exam fee). I asked to see the breakdown of why it cost so much ( remember my insurance company covers the first $140 on the first pair and half off the second pair). I chose a retail $200 pair of glasses and a $299 pair of sun glasses. So my math would be $60 for the first pair of glasses and $150 for the second pair. How the heck did a $210 go to $600! It was all add ons! Being new I didn't know what I needed and thought I was relying on the team to help me out. I believe they may have been taking advantage of the fact I didn't know what I needed. I don't know for sure but I'm assuming the associate that I was working with was being paid a commission on every additional she could get me to pay for. Long story short I ended up paying just over $300 with tax. Again I really loved the doctor and the staff at the desk was very helpful. One gentleman even helped me with a few different pairs to try on that he thought would fit my face and sure enough I went with his recommendations. So overall I think as long as you're prepared and understand the sticker prices just a starting point on these glasses you'll be much better off. I hope this helps someone.
