Dispatching for Star West Satellite was the worst job I've ever had, not only was the office culture toxic but the way they treat their technicians is appalling. Our job was basically to pressure the technicians to work faster and for longer hours than they had agreed, because that made the most money for the company. Management was concerned only about getting as many appointments as possible done in a day and did not value the time or experience of the technicians at all.
Like, if a technician was supposed to be off by 3 pm for a doctors appointment or something 2:49 pm would roll around and we would give them "one more small appointment" that was guaranteed to take at least 45 minutes and could easily go longer. Rumor in the office was that technicians had previously tried to get together to negotiate for more fair treatment/be taken seriously but the organizers were fired.
