image Writing this review to ensure others aren't tempted to do ANY work with this company's owner, Cole Smith. He also owns Westview Pools and is by far the most despicable business person we have ever encountered. DO NOT work with this man; please see my review, below:
We contracted with Westview Pools in June 2020 (so, nearly TEN months ago). Cole Smith, the owner, was an excellent salesman -- full of promises and boasting of his years and experience in this business. We met with three other pool companies and decided on Westview based on that connection and wanting to support a local business versus one of the larger companies. Cole went so far as to imply that his pool customers were like "family" and we absolutely fell for it. Well-played, Sir. Well-played. We never in a million years anticipated we'd be at this point nearly a year later.
Excavation did not begin until nearly two months later, in early August. This, after absolutely zero communication from Cole and us not having any idea that this was a grim foreshadowing of the impending doom of our pool-building experience with Westview. In that two month timeframe, I had reached out to a lawyer to determine if we had a legal leg to stand on at that point. It was concerning, but Cole eventually came around and we were introduced to Doug, our "Construction Superintendent". Doug has been our only saving grace in terms of attempting to preserve our sanity through this process, but we have also learned that his hands have been tied and doesn't get much out of Cole, either.
The initial excuse was, of course, that Covid held up the process. Evidently, there was more demand than there was supply of pool construction materials and subcontractors. OK. Fine, we'll give you that. That held us over for a bit. Then it was a litany of personal/family problems Cole was experiencing. OK. Sympathy garnered. Bought him a little more time for the Hortons. We continued to remain patient and optimistic that our pool would be completed any day now. "I bet it'll be done by Thanksigiving!" "OK, maybe by Christmas?" No. We held out and held out and held out as much hope that we possibly could and gave that man more grace than any one human deserves. We're officially out of patience and officially convinced that our pool will NOT in fact ever be completed.
Fast forward to today: We are still looking at a construction zone in our back yard and we're still sitting on empty promises of completing our pool. We still have pool equipment sitting in our garage that's been there since September after promises of "installing it early in order to keep your project moving", we still have piles of garbage strewn about our yard (this after I hauled off 4 giant bags of trash they left behind because I couldn't take the sight of it anymore), and we still have a very large, very messy (and very unsafe!) hole in our yard where we envisioned a beautiful pool to have been completed long before now.
I held out for as long as I could in writing this review. We have threatened legal action, we have explored the possibility of reaching out to other pool companies to find out if anyone would be willing to complete at this point, we have attempted to talk to Cole on numerous occasions - with zero response. I can't even count the number of emails, texts and phone calls that have gone unanswered at this point. I'm sick over all of it.
Please, to anyone researching pool companies, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT, contract with Westview Pools. And to any lawyers and/or pool companies who maybe want to tackle this nightmare with us - we're ready.
