My retired elderly mother has a Workers Compensation case through the DOL for a shoulder injury that requires immediate major surgery and the handling is atrocious - in 5 weeks she has not been able to get a single return call to answer questions about how to move forward. Its shameful that this is how the government of the most powerful nation in the world runs things. I used to support the idea of a single payer healthcare system but no more - what a hellish system it would be riddled with this kind of incompetence and apathy.

The HQ for the Dept. of Labor is an office building - not a tourist destination - nor is it an architecturally interesting or significant building... and most of it needs to be renovated. Built in 1974, it is massive with almost 1 million SF of office space.
There is a nice post office inside, as well as a wall for a Hall of Honor, thats not a hall, in tribute to those that have contributed to better labor practices in the US like Caesar Chavez, or those that suffered from it, like the Chinese railroad workers. A recent inductee were The Rosies - women like Rosie the Riveter that worked in factories and shipyards during WWII.

Lived here for a few days. Nice views and the brick floor was surprisingly comfortable.
