image The most unprofessional office Ive ever had to deal with to date. I set up a psychiatry appointment 6 months in advance when I was moving to Birmingham for my psychiatric medicine. They have rescheduled me now four times. They called me yesterday to try and change me to a different doctor, and wanted to change the date of my appointment, The day before the appointment at almost 5 oclock in the afternoon. I had already set up a dentist appointment for the day and time they were trying to reschedule me to. So I got to keep my initial appointment after I did already been changed three times keep in mind (which is now four times Ive taken off from work for this appointment..) so today 20 minutes before my appointment they tell me the doctor didnt come in. So they need to reschedule me for two weeks in the future. As Im writing this I get another phone call that its being rescheduled again. Great work uab !!! Patient care is soooo important I see.

image So they have an overcomplicated system of getting in touch with doctors. It can be extremely frustrating. However some of the best doctors in the world are here, and they saved my life with open heart surgery, with a very very rare disorder I had. If you have an emergency, it's better to go by ambulance or you will be sitting for a long long time. I have to give UAB five stars, one for saving my life, two for their incredibly hard-working kind nurses! There is a shortage of healthcare workers so the possibility of getting transferred from Resident to resident is very high. However eventually they usually fix the problem.

image New,younger doctors(look like they are 18 years old )will they understand someone's life in our older generations?

image Unprofessional and erratic. I was a patient from about 2016 to 2021. After being pushed from resident to resident- some good, some terrible- I ended up with an excellent nurse practitioner. But lo and behold, I receive a letter one day late last year stating that the NP was resigning and that UAB Psych was "no longer accepting new patients," so all of the NP's former patients were left to find a new doctor through a different, non-UAB provider. Yep, that's right- the department was not going to accept any transfers- their own patients- to another provider. Had to start from scratch. Finding a reliable psychiatric provider is difficult enough. This is a completely unacceptable way to treat patients with mental illnesses. I expect better from UAB. But after years of misdiagnoses and having unnecessary pills (Lamictal, anyone?) prescribed to me, maybe being abandoned by them is a blessing in disguise.
