image They lie about being pet friendly. Sure, bring your dog, but ONLY if it's under 40 pounds. That's not pet friendly, it's a way of discriminating against certain breeds. My 70 pound dog is extremely well behaved and well traveled. Wake up, it's not the dog, it's the owners that matter.

image The Bayview Hotels main attraction is its location overlooking Frenchman Bay at the footstep of Bar Harbors main downtown area and in close proximity to Acadia National Park. Otherwise, my experience staying there was that of a mediocre hotel that functions more as a motel. Front desk staff was warm upon arrival. However, nothing was personalized about the service provided. Rooms on the lower floor, albeit spacious, are dark and drab, and in dire need of an update/modernization. The bathroom was also in a rather sad state, and not particularly functional- poorly draining sink, difficult to maneuver and not fully closing door, significant height difference between tub and bathroom floor, cramped commode area. Frankly, I would take a room at a Fairfield Inn or Courtyard Marriott any time over this. And again, no personal touches. There is no food offered on premises other than a generic buffet breakfast, that really does not change from day to day, and is again of the quality one would expect of a generic brand hotel. There is a happy hour offered on premises (not included) and a free shuttle offered to downtown Bar Harbor (it is a rather lengthy walk to downtown Bar Harbor and back on foot). Ultimately, for the price I happened to pay, I was able to justify it given the location/time of the year. However, for those thinking about dishing $500+ a night, thinking that this is going to be a cute boutique hotel with a Maine cachet, I would strongly recommend against it because chances are that you are going to feel ripped off. If I were to repeat a trip to Bar Harbor, I would look elsewhere first.

image I'm going to take a second to review this hotel and I'm still on vacation. I'm picky and do my research before putting out money for vacations. That being said I can't understand for a second why anyone would want to stay anywhere else in Bar Harbor. 22 rooms all with a balcony and a view. Shuttle into town. Fast and convenient Leo and Greg are fantastic. Delicious breakfast every morning included. I am a vegetarian and the breakfast is vegetarian and vegan but even my husband is raving over the food. Especially this quiche croissant they have. Choc chip cookies in the afternoon with options for those gluten free. They even left two champagne glasses with a shareable bottle of champagne and a card for my birthday.
And the beds are super comfy. Wonderful place with a staff that needs to be recognized!

image Had a really nice stay here for a couple days even if the picturesque view was limited by the fog bank the whole bay was stuck in one of those days. Staff was all exceptionally friendly and accommodating. Spacious room, comfortable beds, very clean. Vegetarian-only continental breakfast included and it's quite good - the blueberry french toast bakes were superb! Located down a short forested driveway a bit off the road and a little over a mile from the town center, making for a nice walk if you want to stretch your legs a bit...or if you prefer they also feature a very convenient on-call shuttle service to and from downtown where finding parking can sometimes be challenging. Would definitely stay here again!
