I had the most bizarre and red-flag interaction with an armed Allied employee yesterday. Heres what happened: I parked in a public parking lot and paid for it (and have receipts). There is no event ongoing, and this is a regular public parking lot, owned by a company whose employees can park free, or members of the public can pay to park. Returning to my car, a dirty silver Toyota Corolla is parked right next to me. A 45-55 yo man w/ black hair gets out and hangs around for 3-4 mins, then starts walking off. When about 40 feet away and about to exit the lot, he turns back at me and asks if Im a member of ______ companythe lots owner. For the next roughly 15 minutes, this armed Allied employee is, in my opinion, either incredibly unintelligent or is attempting to impersonate a public servant, or both. He threatens to take a picture of my license plate to get my vehicle checked out, says he would ask to see my phone (but its in the vehicle with a woman and child, which he knows,) refuses to understand that I paid for parking or that thats even an option here. I asked early in the conversation if he was a legal rep of the lots owner, he doesnt answer, but says he is providing security for an event which is several buildings down. During this 15 minute discussion, Im shocked and eventually feel threatened or unsafe that this armed and apparently not to bright non-police officer and non-public servant is going so far out of his way to question and threaten me, so I use the F word, though not at him. After 15 minutes of the most bizarre and low-intelligence conversation Ive had in known memory, he walks away, fixated on the fact I used the F word. Perhaps this gun-wielding Allied Universal employee is unaware that he has no right to see my papershe is not protecting the property but is merely parking there as a member of the public just as I am, there is no event or occasion ongoing, and the role he was hired for is several buildings or more away from where we are. As he was entirely unaware the option even existed to pay to park in the lot, I have to assume he himself didnt pay. Allied, please get this clown under control. Thanks.
