image We stopped by 4/6 for a nice dinner date. It had been a couple years since my first visit to Stone Arch. I was really excited! However, we had unfortunately received such disappointing food and service that we are not likely to come back or recommend.
First, we received decent-ish service from the bartender. She was nice, and made us our first drinks. She even gave us menus to browse while we waited for our table to be ready. Time went by, and we had about finished our first drinks, she asked if we would like to put in an appetizer order while we waited. So we ordered some cheese curds (I remembered how much I loved them the last time I was here, and definitely wanted them again!) However, moments after she put in the order, our table was ready. We closed out our tab and she told the hostesses that we had an order of curds being prepared, and confirmed our table number for our order. This is where our entire evening went into the toilet.
It took quite some time before our waiter greeted us, and seemed confused with the fact that we had already been served drinks (my boyfriend had brought his full pint glass to the table.) He [my boyfriend] informed the waiter we were waiting on curds from the bar. The waiter needed to leave and come back again to take our orders, as he forgot his tablet. Still, no curds. He took our orders, we both ordered the Filet Mignon (medium) with mashed potatoes, and my boyfriend got a salad while I asked if I could upgrade my second side to a cup of soup, and he seemed to be able to do that.
A solid 10-15 minutes go by, and he checked on us once and asked if everything was okay, and my boyfriend reiterated to him that we STILL had no curds. And he informed the waiter that he had already paid for them on our bar tab. Quite some time goes by again, and finally we get our curds. However, they were lukewarm, almost as if they had been done the entire time and were just sitting aimlessly for those 10-15 minutes. They did taste nice.
When we were served our food, the soup/salad came with the meal (youd think that wouldve come out prior?) and it seemed like everything was right with the world again! We were extremely hangry, and ready to feast. I took a small bite of my potatoes while my soup cooled down, and my potatoes werent really hot at all either. I thought the steak looked different as well, I didnt think filets looked the way it did (thinner and square, rather than thick and round).
While the red wine sauce I got tasted great, along with the french onion soup, I got a few bites into the steak only to be disappointed even further. My steak was overcooked while my boyfriends appeared to be under. It wasnt until I almost choked on my steak from struggling to chew from the toughness was when I started questioning internally about the cut of the steak. When the waiter came to check on us, my boyfriend mentioned my steak being overcooked, Interesting was the reply we got. The fix ended up being that we had to trade steaks?
I have definitely had overcooked filets before, its the only cut I order at a restaurant, and they were never as tough or grizzly as this was. But, I have never ordered one that large (10oz) and trusted that we were given what we ordered. My boyfriend mentioned fat being on his steak as well, which isnt normal for filets.
Upon discussing our evening, reviewing our bill, and reanalyzing what we experienced, I googled what a 10oz flat iron steak looked like, and that is definitely what we were served on Saturday night, and NOT the 10oz filet mignon like we ordered (and were billed for), and on top of that, we were charged full price for the soup I upgraded to, instead of a minor up charge (I realize its only $4, but it is the principle of it).
To say the least, after spending about $150 between the bar and our dinner tabs, we are BEYOND disappointed with the service and food we received this last Saturday.
