Several years this office did an amazing job for us. Two years ago we switched accounts after we felt this office was good, but extremely expensive. This year Barbara Sage decided to file an extension with the IRS on our behalf. We filed our taxes with our new accountant. Why on earth would an account you haven't used in two years decide to file an extension on your behalf? When I called to let them know I was unhappy about this situation. Barbara Sage rudely interrupted me, said what she wanted, and then hung up on me.

I had Russell Sage prepare a tax return for me. He made an error that would have cost me $1,600. This was a childcare tax credit - so a really common credit that he just missed. Then, he charged me another $100 on top of the price he quoted me for my return. I lost confidence and ended up having to pay another CPA to review everything so we can file properly and make sure I wasn't overpaying. I told him I would pay for his services as he originally quoted me but not to file the return he prepared for me. When I pointed the issues out that I had with his work and told him not to file the return he prepared, he lashed out via email in an aggressive and alarming manner. He told me the IRS would flag my return which is strange considering the return I am actually sending in is correct, unlike the one he originally prepared for me. He also called me untrustworthy or something like that in an attempt to gaslight me. I am a sophisticated customer, so I'm not personally worried about the IRS, but Russ's demeanor was very alarming. I could imagine other clients being truly worried over a threat like that. Very unprofessional and, frankly, sad that instead of owning up to his mistakes with both my return and the amount he quoted me, he threw a fit and started trying to insult me and scare me instead. I hired a CPA so I could save some time, and to have someone double check me and make sure I'm not overpaying. He ended up costing me time, money, and I had to review HIS return to make sure I wasn't overpaying the IRS.I've made the appropriate reports to the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy and BBB, but I would warn anyone to steer clear of this firm. It was an all around terrible experience, and an expensive mistake. I didn't notice the Yelp reviews beforehand, but I would heed them if I were you. Feel free to message me if you would like to know more, or if you have your own complaints with this firm and would like to learn how to file them.

Location is not central so check that first. Small operation, family run. Reasonably good tax services, fairly priced. Even during tax season you can get an appointment which is unusual for a CPA. One plus-- they have cute dogs that they keep on site, which may lower your blood pressure while you prepare your taxes.

By far the WORST experience I could have imagined.  First of all, if you're going to provide such horrible service you at least need to be pleasant to work with.  Barbara is very gruff and borderline rude in every interaction.  I was willing to overlook that for good service, but she charged me $300 per month to simply do the reconciliations.  At the time I maybe had 20 transactions per month, if that.  After paying her over $1500 to catch up my books, I looked at the data and she categorized things like "ask account" or "undetermined."  Really?  You think the IRS will be okay with "ask accountant?"  What Barbara was doing was overcharging me and then paying her staff $10 per hour to do something that she should be doing.  I had to hire another book keeper just to fix her work.  And THEN when taxes were due I had called and emailed her several times before taxes were due to get the prep done.  Then the DAY TAXES WERE DUE she calls me and asks me to sign a form for an extension.  You had 4 months to prepare!  What was I paying you for again?  Horrible experience.  I would have to say borderline fraud. If someone charges you for something, but then never actually does the work, what would you call it?
