Dont even bother calling them they will never pick up. Such a disappointment. If you not from Turkey and they have your passport contact your embassy and tell them they are holding it and not giving it back. They will handle it for you. I promise.

Even though I brought all my documents with me when I went to give a power of attorney on my first visit, the reason why the gentleman who handled the notary did not process me was that I did not have a visa in my new passport. My visa remained in my old passport and I did not bring that old passport with me. I think the gentleman thought he was working at the American consulate. Otherwise, it is really incomprehensible what he would do after seeing my American visa. However, I was able to easily obtain my power of attorney from the New York consulate with the same passport and documents. This time I brought my passport with a visa with me. But as it should be, no one asked about my old passport with a visa. I think it was 2017 or 2018. I was living in Oklahoma at the time. I had driven to Houston for 14 hours back and forth in vain. My second visit was on April 23, 2024 for marriage registration and family certificate. Even though I had all my documents with me, this time they did not accept my wife's birth certificate. Since I received the notarized translation online, I did not have the signed translation with me. The purpose of the birth certificate is to display the name, surname, date of birth, mother and father's name. The information does not change whether it is a wet signature or a copy. Even though I had all the information, I still could not receive my documents. (My wife became an American citizen with the same birth certificate, however, and I received a green card with the same birth certificate.) The lady who worked for me suggested that I get married again in Turkey. (I have to admit, this suggestion was really funny) This time, I traveled from Austin to roundtrip, approximately 7-8 hours, and again it was in vain. But at least I was able to renew my old identity. But I wouldn't be surprised if they couldn't do that either. So, as a result, my Houston consulate adventure ended with my transactions not being processed. I REQUEST those who made the appointments! Please make appointments based on MERIT. Consulates are to facilitate the work of us citizens living abroad. Not to make it difficult. We are a country that has the capacity to do much better than this. Unfortunately, I have to give 1 star to the beautiful consulate of my beautiful country due to the lack of staff (in terms of capacity, not numbers).
