Yuma is located in the south western portion of the state of Arizona. The census of 2007 indicated that the population of Yuma was around ninety thousand residents in an area of just over one hundred square miles. It is also the seat for Yuma County. The first inhabitants to the area were the Cocopah and the Quechan Native American Indian tribes. The first explorers to the area was in 1540 by Hernando de Alacron and Melchior Diaz.  There is the Colorado river that runs between Arizona and California, along with the north and west of the city.

In the city you can find the state historic park of the Yuma Quartermaster Depot, which had supplied all of the forts in what is now the state of Arizona. Another historical landmark is the Yuma Territorial Prison. Another interesting fact of the city of Yuma is that there once was a Kilgen pipe organ, which is said to be on the the most glamorous and expensive ever made.
