The city of Youngstown is located in the north east fo the state of Ohio. According to the U.S. Census Bureau of 2008 the estimated population is just over seven thousand residents in an area of only thirty square miles. The city is in the Mahoning and Trumbull Counties. The incorporated as a village in 1848 and then as a city in 1867.

There a several larger cities in close proximity to the Youngstown. There is Cleveland to the north west, about sixty miles away. About the same distance to the south east is the Pittsburgh. The city was named after one of the early settlers from Whitestown, New York, John Young. He established the first gritsmill and sawmill in the community. John Young had surveyed the area in 1796.
