York is located in the south eastern region of the state Pennsylvania. The city was first incorporated in early part of 1887. The estimated population according to the U.S. Census Bureau in 2000 was around forty thousand in an area of only five square miles. The current Mayor for York is John S. Brenner. The city of York presides as the county seat for York County and is about the fourteenth largest city in Pennsylvania. The city was named after a city in England. The area was first found by settlers from Philadelphia in 1741. There is a lot of colonial history in York. It was the home of the Continental Congress temporarily, as was the place where the Articles of Confederation drafted and adopted.

Located in the city is the York Barbell company, which is a reseller of barbells along with other equipments used for weight training. Also at the premises is the USA Weightlifting Hall of Fame. One of the major factories of the Harley-Davidson Motorcycle company calls York home. Another largely important company is York International, which happens to be one of the largest suppliers of HVAC systems in the country. Many of the great factories and industry can be found in the business directory. In York has been the location of the Stauffer Biscuit Company that has been making those famous animal crackers dating back to 1871.
