Woodbridge is located in the north eastern region of Virginia and is a part of the Prince William County. It is considered by the United States Census Bureau to be a "census-designated place" or CDP, which means that it resembles an incorporated city but isn't, and lacks its own municipal government. The CDP has an estimated population of forty thousand residents, according to the 2007 census. The median household income in Woodbridge is the seventh highest in the country.
There are large plans to "upscale" the area of Woodbridge and the new business in the area can be found in the Virginia yellowpages. The Simon Property Group had acquired the Potomac Town Center in 2007 and began renovating the area. In the new shopping area there will be a Macy's, Barnes and Nobles, Wegman's, plenty of office space, hundreds of residential units, and a large hotel (up to 8 or 9 stories). There is also a shopping area called the Mills, which is also owned by the Simon Group. In the Mills there is, among the already 200 plus stores, an AMC Theatres building in the shopping center, and plans to construct a Neiman Marcus Last Call Clearance Center. There is a more detailed listing in the business directory.
