If you're looking for someone to protect you from Uncle Sam's greedy fingers, Dean Berning is not your guy. Not only did I end up paying the government over a thousand dollars this year, but he charged over $200.00 for 10 minutes of clerical busy work. Not going back.

Dean and his staff are fast, efficient and affordable. When we meet with him he offered us a small basket of fruit from his farm, and provided us with sound final advice and accurate tax preparation.

I had recently moved to the area from out of state and found Dean Berning on Yelp. I called him to find out about his pricing and was shocked at the price for a simple tax return (over $300 - my previous tax professional charged $100 for the same services). When I commented that this was fairly high, he assured me that he treats every tax return like he would his own, so that is why I decided to book an appointment for mine and my husband's tax return. The appointment took an excessive amount of time (close to two hours), and we sat there while he created files for us and paper-clipped things together for what seemed like an eternity. This is something he could have done when we were gone or had a secretary take care of (and not bill his time for). After our return had been filed, we received a notice from the IRS. He then sent us a bill for $75 for filing the corrective document with the IRS, which is outrageous, since it was his mistake. Come to find out now, in 2018, that Dean never filed the corrective document with the IRS for the 2016 tax year, and we are now having to file it ourselves, over a year later. If you don't want to waste time and money, don't hire Dean Berning.
