Spring, Texas is a small suburb of Houston and is an unincorporated area. It is currently home to 36,385 residents. The city was settled as a permanent development by German immigrants in the late 1800s. The residents are happy to have a small community that is not finding itself encroached upon by Houston’s urban spread.
Because it is a small town as opposed to a major city, it is home to two major attractions: Old Town Spring, with over 150 shops, art galleries and restaurants; SplashTown Waterpark Houston, a water themed park that is located on the site of the former Hanna-Barbera Land theme park.
For additional entertainment venues, residents of Spring travel into Houston for theatre and sports venues. The yellow pages may not be thick, but the shops and restaurants manage to provide a variety for the residents to enjoy.
One of the attractions found in the area, along with many parks, is the Mercer Arboretum and Botanic Gardens. There are many golf clubs, such as Cypresswood Golf Club, listed in the Texas local directory. Sports such as golf and tennis are familiar venues for the residents and their guests.
The town is primarily residential and it has single family homes, mixed use properties and shopping centers. There are numerous primary and secondary schools in the town. Several of these schools are private.
