Oregon Sees Dramatic Job Increase Post-Recession

Residents of Portland will like this news. The area has added many jobs since the recession. In fact, the entire state of Oregon has added over 38,000 jobs since the recession began several years ago.

This is taking into account the fact that many jobs were lost during the recession. Thousands were lost, in fact. However, a new report out from the Business Journal showed that Oregon has 1.62 million nonfarm jobs as of March of this year. This is an increase of 38,100 jobs since 2002 when the state had 1.58 million jobs. This is an overall increase of 2.41 percent.

Most states now have more jobs now than they did before the recession began, according to information collected by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, which bodes well for the economic recovery in the country as a whole.
