USC May Soon Control the Coliseum

Good news for the University of California. The school may soon have complete control over the arena it calls home—the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

The Coliseum Commission has approved an initiative that shifts control of the arena to USC, so the school will now have the say in how the football venue is used.

The news was initially revealed by the Los Angeles Times. The measure passed with a vote of 8 to 1. The change of lease gives the university control over the arena all the way until 2054 at which time the lease would be renegotiated.

To be in control of the revenue, USC is backing updates and remodels of the Coliseum that equal $70 million.
