Blizzard Entertainment has reason to celebrate. After the release of their newest game, Diablo III, the company set a world record for the fastest selling PC game ever.
In fact, Diablo III sold 3.5 million copies in the first 24 hours alone, according to a statement released by Activision Blizzard, the game maker's parent company.
The stellar sales can be largely pinpointed on the years of hype surrounding this game. Plus, the company should be relieved, especially after so many issues surrounding the game's release. When Diablo III was first released, the game's servers went offline for a great length of time, causing many players to not be able to log in within those first 24 hours.
This was especially frustrating for those attempting to play in single player mode. Even though the online features aren't used in this mode, all players must log into the server to play.
