Long Beach is a large city located on the Pacific coast of Southern California. The city sits in Los Angeles County, about 20 miles south of downtown Los Angeles. Long Beach borders Orange County on its southeast edge. Long Beach is the fifth-largest in California. Long Beach went through many names before adopting its current unique name. The area was initially claimed by Spain in the late 1700's and divided into six parcels. Then in the late 1800's the land was sold to the sheep-raising firm of Flint, Bixby & Co., who in turn sold it to William E. Willmore. Willmore had hopes of developing a farming community named Willmore City, but his attempt eventually failed and he was bought out by the Los Angeles Long Beach Land and Water Company.  Once and for all the name of the community was changed to Long Beach, and it was incorporated as a city in 1888.

The California business directory is filled with organizations linked to The Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine. The Department received a Gold Medal award from the National Parks and Recreation Society in 2002, 2003, and 2004 highlighting the Department's "outstanding management practices and programs." The Department manages 92 parks covering 3,100 acres throughout the city, including the 815 acres El Dorado Regional Park. The area hosts, an archery range, fishing lakes, youth campground, trails and picnic areas. There are many points of interests to visit surrounding the park, which are located in the yellow pages.
