There's a smart ass old man named Steve who owns the place, just an arrogant old goat who thinks he knows what you need better than you do. The outfit is along the lines of a speed shop but really low class, dirty and runned down. Now if you're going to a place like that, chances are you know your stuff meaning you know what you need but stevie boi will beg to differ. There's a rinky dink retail area with an engine parts section out back. A guy named Mike runs it and all he does is jibber jabber with people. I've gone in there twice and walked out each time because he is shooting the breeze with customers and not asking you what he can do to help you. So with stevie boy working the machine shop and mike working parts, I called and got a quote on head work. Turns out mike gave me the quote. I get there and give steve the head. I asked him to take some measurements of the deck. He refused instead asking what kind of car it's off of. Now if you're at a machine shop and the owner asks this question, he's seeing dollar signs if the part is anything other than american. When I tell him it's european and also not to take any more than 10 thousandths out, he quietly takes it to the back and tells me not to worry. About an hour later he comes out with the head saying they had to remove 18 thousandths. I was shocked! "I specifically told you not to remove any more than 10!" On top of that the head was never hot tanked which is the first thing that happens in any professional machine shop. The old goat says "I thought you were in a rush so we didn't hot tank it." When the effe did I say I was in a rush? I didn't! He grumbles under his breath as he's walking away with the head. Anyway make a long story short, mr. jibber jabber gave me one price and now steve comes back with something higher, saying that mike doesn't know what he's talking about. Well I ain't gonna pay the higher price cause I'm stuck with something that will never work the same again and I didn't. Sure enough when i installed the head the timing was backed off since the cams are now lower making it a bit boggy when you snap the throttle. There's plenty of back pressure so it drives clean in the ranges, but needless to say I will never set foot in that ****hole again. So long stevie boy, sucks to be you ya miserable old goat.
