In proximity to the city of Los Angeles, Lancaster is about 70 miles north of the city. The population has grown in the last 30 years from 37,000 residents to over 145,000 residents.

Many of the members of the Flat Earth Society were celebrities and affluent business men.
Lancaster is also home to the Aerospace Walk of Honor. This facility was established 1990 by the city council of Lancaster to celebrate the test pilots associated with Edwards Air Force Base. The facility gives recognition to those with distinguished aviation careers that are marked by obvious and significant achievements.
