Jersey City is located in Hudson County, New Jersey and is the state’s second largest city after Newark. Jersey City lies along the west bank of the Hudson River directly across from New York City’s lower Manhattan. As a part of the New York metropolitan area, Jersey City is a commercial and trade center, remaining the port of entrance and a manufacturing hub. Since Jersey City runs along the waterfront and has major rail connections, it remains an important transportation and distribution center. The hub provides oil refineries, stockrooms, plants and railroad shops that produce a various range of products like cosmetics and electronics. While tourist attractions may not sit on every corner in Jersey City, there is some fascinating places to go and the yellow pages or a New Jersey business directory are filled with direct numbers for travelers looking to contact entertainment facilities. One in particular is the Liberty Science, which is an interactive science museum and learning center situated in Liberty State Park. The center has the world’s largest IMAX Dome theater, science exhibits and many educational resources.
Liberty State Park continues to remain a fundamental role in the New York Harbor area. As the railroads diminished and the industry declined, the land was deserted and became an isolated dump site. The growth of Liberty State Park led to a new start by the waterfront. Jersey City has profited from its location next to Manhattan because many of its companies are additions of businesses whose headquarters are there. Current developments have included increased housing and shopping areas, even though other parts of the city remain deteriorated.
