Henderson is a city located in the south-eastern tip of Nevada. It has an estimated population of 252,064 as of 2008, making it the second largest city in the state after Las Vegas. The township of Henderson was established in the early 1940s as a magnesium supplier during World War II. After the end of the war, factory and producer workers left the town and more than half the residences went vacant. Since then, the Nevada government has worked to revitalize Henderson as a tourist location with an increasing number of movie theaters, shopping malls, casino resorts and restaurants.
