Located in Southwestern Ohio, in the county seat of Butler County, lies the industrial city of Hamilton. The business directory provides a list of the industries that call this city home. Centrally located between the Cincinnati and Dayton metropolitan areas, Hamilton is an important regional center of business, industry, culture, and government. Seeking to revitalize itself through the arts, Hamilton was officially deemed the “City of Sculpture” in 2000 by the state of Ohio due to its efforts to bring many sculpture installations to the city and the Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park.

Originally an agricultural community, Hamilton transformed itself into an industrial area with impressive demographics. Due to an immigration of skilled German workers and availability of a good water supply, the paper industry, iron works, and manufacturing works thrived in the city. Hamilton’s location around the Miami Aquifer, Miami River, and the old Miami and Erie Canal system was major in supporting industry and transportation. The City of Sculpture has transformed itself again with its support for arts and culture. With a grand focus on sculpture, there are more than 35 pieces created by nationally and internationally known artists. The Fitton Center for Creative Arts is a venue in Hamilton that highlights arts and culture in this beautiful city. Helping the community while mixing creativity is what Fitton and Hamilton is all about. As a non-for profit performing arts center, it is host to exhibits, classes and performances. Mad Anthony Theatre Company calls Fitton its home. Fitton After Five is also held at the center every Thursday evening as an after work event with music and drinks. The Ohio yellow pages may help provide ideas for further artistic and cultural venues in Ohio. To further keep its culture and history alive, Hamilton is dedicated to the preservation of historic districts such as the German Village, Rossville, and Dayton-Lane. With its big amenities combined with small town charm, Hamilton retains the charter of its past while sharpening it focus on the future.
