I am going to begin by explaining something: Your contractor, even you (!) will contract with the cheapest painter possible! Why? It's cheaper, faster, and seems to look all right ... right? Just wait a couple or few years ... you may have a surprise on your hands ...So think again: my Mother was a depression child, from the first "Great Depression," the most frugal person I know who does nothing nor keeps nothing extraneous ... she always said, we are only going to buy it once, sweetie, so choose carefully. So, sure, you can get it cheap and fast - making sure it to looks ok til sold! OR ... you can hire Bill Johnson at Chroma Painting Company and have a paint job that is exquisite in every way - AND that lasts 4-5 times longer than those quick and cheap spray jobs with no brush-back that provide no quality!I chose Bill, hands down, for my little 1910 cottage. It has been 20 years since he painted it! Just now, it needs a little help! Amazing! And you will be SO happy! Read below to see about my personal experience - it is a worthwhile read ...MY EXPERIENCE ... began with the privilege of meeting Mr. Johnson and having his presence grace mine. He first did my house exterior. As prior owners had repeatedly chosen the "quick and cheap" method, it was a mess to the degree that prep was absolutely necessary for the paint to hold on as well as not have a bunch of painted over peels going on. Bill meticulously and beautifully took the time to burn off the old paint, sanded down the old fir siding on my 1910 cottage, then carefully caulked it - I mean all of it. This preparation was the most important part, I have learned, as it made the house look brand new, yet it retained all the charm of an older cottage. It also has lasted beyond all my neighbors' other paint jobs - much longer. (They have gotten 3 paint jobs to my one, so far, and have spent more money than I did with Bill!)Bill, an artist/painter, is great with understanding and choosing color, and my house and I really needed his expertise in all these ways. Also, he works so accurately that he doesn't mask off windows and doesn't ever leak any paint, does beautiful corners and edges, and makes certain it is up to his level of excellent. Bill then painted the interior of my entire house, up and down, equally beautifully to his work on the exterior. Not a drop of paint anywhere, beautiful transitions between walls and ceilings, caulking to make a really finished and professional appearance, and the most incredibly beautiful furniture-grade finish on all my fir woodwork and cabinetry. When I had a flood that raised the grain on all the wood and damaged one floor's worth of walls ... he patiently came back and did an ever so glistening job of recovering the quality and beauty of my home. I will have my home painted again this summer - and I can rest easily, knowing that only the finest and most trustworthy person will do only the finest and most beautiful work. Exemplary is an understatement. Highest recommendation I could give goes to Bill - he is worth it.
