Renaissance Newark Airport Hotel

Legionaire is going around. Advised not to shower. Esthetics are nice, don't look too hard. Very nice lounge area, business area and restaurant.

Unfortunately i didnt read the reviews before booking this hotel as my flight was cancelled and it was late in the evening. Now I am reading that for 2 months they have been having issues with their water and they dont fix it?!? WTH? A huge chain like Marriott doesnt attend to this serious matter quickly? Why you dont put a note on the app at the time of booking? And on top of that they charge full price and dont offer any discount or refund. Truly disappointing

Noteworthy details: Lots of renovation seems to be happening. Staff is very friendly and professional, quick to respond to questions or needs. I did not stay overnight so I am unable to comment on the rooms. If I needed overnight accommodation I would try it.

5 stars for the staff, zero for corporate! I got an email the day of travel informing us of the Legionnaires in the water. It was not mentioned on their own website or anything upon booking but left until the very last minute with an email as we were already en route! How on earth do they get off charging full price for a room with contaminated water when you cant shower to avoid inhaling droplets??? My husband is older and at risk and did not feel comfortable with the arrangement so upon arrival we changed hotels. It was clearly a corporate decision to wait until the last minute but the local front desk could not have been more helpful. Casielyn was the kindest and she actually called the Hilton to get us a good neighbor rate and the same price we had at the Renaissance. She went above and beyond for someone who was not even staying in their hotel. You just dont see customer service like that every day, I feel terrible for the people at the front desk talking about contaminated water all day long and hope this issue is soon resolved for the hotel. But the people and the gym at this facility are amazing!!
