I took my 1979 El Camino here on March 14th to get it looked at after it failed a smog test. I dropped the car off on a Tuesday morning and didn't get a call about the status of it until Thursday morning. When I went back I was told that the engine needed to be replaced as well as the catalytic converter. While I appreciate their honesty in not trying to get me to pay for unnecessary repairs, I left without getting any work done on the car and paid $125 for the diagnosis. Fast forward to April 9th when I took the car to a 2G smog mechanic to get the car looked at. They tested it and determined that the only repair the car needed was a carburetor adjustment. They also told me that there was nothing wrong with the engine and that a catalytic converter wasn't needed for my car. After fixing the carburetor the car was tested again and passed smog. I don't know who is telling the truth regarding whether or not my car needs a new engine and/or carburetor so I won't blame this establishment for misleading me, I just question whether or not they could have diagnosed the carburetor issue and fixed it while having my car for nearly three days. I'm giving a four star review to be fair but I wasn't happy that they kept my car for that long, did no repairs, charged me $125 for a diagnosis, and didn't give me any paperwork regarding the results of the inspection.
