Our son entered Rising Peak Academy as a boy with difficult emotional and addiction issues, and he left as a man in the process of developing the tools he needs to live a fulfilling life. He had experienced severe early childhood trauma, which resulted in him abusing drugs and alcohol as a teenager. Because of these serious issues, we tried three different programs for him, but he got kicked out of all three. After he was kicked out of the third program, we sent him to Wilderness Treatment Center and then to Rising Peak Academy. At first, he struggled at RPA and didnt want to be there. In spite of his resistance, the staff persevered with him. At times it was very difficult for our son because the staff was very honest with him and said things he didnt want to hear. Over time, his perspective on life gradually changed, and he learned to accept the insights of his counselors and the rest of the staff. It was obvious that the staff at RPA really cared about our son and that they had a great deal of perception and wisdom in their dealings with him. The academics were also excellent. Our son entered RPA with almost no high school credits, and the teacher suggested that he prepare for the HiSET exam (an updated version of the GED). She put a lot of effort into helping him get ready to take this exam, and he passed and is now a high school graduate. In addition, his scores indicated that he was college ready or very close to college ready in four of the five sections of the exam. The boys in the program were very supportive of each other in their common quest for sobriety, and I was impressed with their unity, humility, and concern for one another. There were also some fun activities for the boys, such as skiing, snowboarding, fishing, camping, basketball, and a trip to Six Flags in Los Angeles. Now that our son has graduated from RPA, he is committed to sobriety. It is remarkable to see the turnaround in his life in just ten months. RPA is a special place, and I really cannot imagine a better place in the country for high school boys dealing with addiction issues.

The Brekke family, through WTC and RPA, saved my sons life. Not only that, they explained addiction to me in a way that allowed me to find compassion for my son's journey. They dont just save the childrens lives, but also the families who are struggling with them. Brynn went above and beyond what any teacher has ever done for my son. She gave us weekly updates on how our son was doing; which provided a connection that was so comforting. Jesse is someone my son now aspires to be. He was a therapist who broke through my sons bravado and helped my son realize who he could be. He always treated my son with compassion and kindness, never pushing anything on him. Rob exposed the truth with kindness. He was always transparent with my son about what needed to be done. He was there for my son when I couldnt be, supporting him in a way we werent able to. My son has graduated from RPA now, but in his new recovery center they have commented on his leadership and character. I truly accredit this to RPA for fostering an environment in which the boys are allowed to thrive. I thank Nancy and her family for being the stepping stones to my sons recovery. Their true goal is to help others and you feel it in everything they do.

My son graduated from Rising Peak Academy and High School 6 weeks ago. Hands down RPA saved my family and my son's life. The Brekke family have been helping adolescents with addiction for over 3 decades. They know their stuff and hired the best - from the counselors to his teacher to the cook and the night staff. These people genuinely care for the boys and are amazing surrogate parents in our absence. They worked the AA 12 step program that my son started at Wilderness Treatment Center. My son will tell you that if you are serious about recovery, you need a program that subscribes to the 12 steps. There was a time that we didn't think our son would graduate from High School. But, RPA and his teacher, Brynn, made it all possible. Brynn went above and beyond to give the boys educational opportunities they never had in a traditional high school setting. Also, the boys had the opportunity to take dual credit courses and/or college courses at the local community college. My son had yet to take the ACT test so Brynn set the boys up with a prep course, a tutor to help them prepare. and to take the test locally in Kalispell. Prior to graduation, Brynn had the boys research career paths and apply for colleges. To top it all off, RPA planned an amazing graduation day. It could not have been more special. The boys also had the opportunity to do a lot of fun things like snow skiing, hiking, bowling, camping, basketball, wake boarding and on and on. They also did charity work with habitat for humanity and the local soup kitchen. My son has transitioned home and continues his recovery with AA meetings and counseling. Words can't express how grateful we are to WTC, RPA and the Brekke family.
