I brought my violin to Plimoth Violins to have geared pegs installed. The pegs I had to begin with were made of boxwood which is very porous and makes them difficult to turn. The geared pegs that Hollis installed make tuning my violin 100% easier! In addition, Hollis replaced the bridge, lowering the strings making the violin easier for me to play. Not only is my violin now easier for me to play but it is also more beautiful! Hollis darkened the color of my boxwood chinrest and tailpiece so that they better match the color of the Rosewood geared pegs, and it looks gorgeous. The turnaround time was fast and the price was reasonable. Hollis is knowledgable, passionate about his work, and listens to his clients. I would recommend Plimoth Violins to anyone looking to purchase a violin or make improvements or repairs to the violin they already own!

Meeting with Hollis was such an enjoyable and informative experience. His sincere care of choosing the right instrument was evident in the time he took to educate us on what we were looking at.

Plimoth Violins is the best! I have purchased 2 violins from Hollis - my second was an antique violin last year. Both experiences were wonderful. Hollis takes the time to listen, stays within your budget, and does it with a smile. Recently my antique violins A string broke just before a lesson. I was so happy I kept my first violin and had the pegs upgraded. I was able to make it to my lesson. I have been delighted with Plimoth Violins!

Thank You Very much to Plimoth Violins and Hollis at their workshop in Plymouth for restoring a family piece that was sadly destined for the dump - The care, knowledge and attention to detail is very much appreciated and we now have an instrument that will live on and be passed down and with the paperwork provided the instrument has been properly insured. Thank You

I will be recommending Plimoth Violins to anyone who needs work on their instrument. I brought my violin here after not playing it for five years and, needless to say, it needed a lot of work. Hollis was very knowledgeable and attentive and took the time to explain everything he could do to repair my violin. I had all of my strings replaced and new tuning pegs installed, which are more modern and far easier to tune than traditional pegs. He also updated my bridge, gave me new high-quality rosin, and threw in a new tuner. The passion and expertise in his work is evident and I felt very comfortable leaving my instrument in his hands. My violin now looks and sounds better than ever thanks to Hollis. The care, attention to detail, and generosity at Plimoth Violins is unmatched and I cannot recommend this business enough.
