Desert Business Association

Just joined very attentive and cares about our community and businesses

I refused to join the DBA for years because it had a reputation as the "Desert Boozers Association."  It was a bunch of middle-aged to older white guys who just wanted to get together and suck on cocktails once a month.  In addition, it was trying to be very politically connected.  Yuck, yuck, and yuck.  Not terribly "business' oriented frankly.What a difference a few years makes.  Over the past 6-7 years the association has taken a complete 180 and proven itself as a professional and formidable leader in the business community.  Not only is the DBA for LGBT business people but it's for EVERYONE.  And, everyone participates.  With a membership of about 250, a typical, twice-monthly reception and mixer draws a minimum of 80 people in the summer and up to 130 in season--no other business association in the valley can claim that kind of participation ratio by its' members, period.The mixers are fun, lively, inclusive and a lot of business actually gets done.  Most members have on-going, tangible success stories about building relationships and earning business.The DBA is ideal for any LGBT-friendly business person who is tired of the same  "good old white boys club" chambers where people are shoving cards in your face and not really connecting.  AND, every board member (straight/gay/women/men) actively and consistently participates & connects (or they won't last on the board).For $150 a year, there is no better networking investment available at this price.  BUT it doesn't work unless you work it!Two thumbs up!

The DBA is a wonderful organization for the GLBT community. As a gay-friendly business, we have had great success with this organization. The mixers are always well attended and at fun, hip places. I recommend this group to any business that wants to grow here in the desert.
