First of all we love the Orthodontist, Dr. Slivka, he is amazing with my adult daughter that has Down Syndrome. He treats her with respect and makes her feel very comfortable at every visit. Dr. Slivka always explains to her and I both, what he is going to do, and why, so we understand the process. He has gone above and beyond to see that her much needed medical care was taken care of promptly. Dr Slivka has a sweet sense of humor that makes her smile at each visit and he does not wear scrubs so it is less stressful in the chair. He worked directly with her surgeons in Phoenix to make things go smoothly as possible. Her case was a very unusual case and he did not shy away from it. He was up for the challenge. Kudos to him for all he has accomplished! Dr Burningham has donea great job with my daughter as a dentist at this office too. He also treats her with respect and is very caring. The hygienist and the techs are very sweet and personable to my daughter. They take time to explain things to her so she understands and then she can proceed at home on her own with her care. But.. I hate to bring up this part; although I feel I must, it took exactly 1 full year to get reimbursed for my daughters braces and surgical wires! The lady in front said it was approved and so did insurance so I pd cash to speed by process along because she needed surgery ASAP and there was a coding issue by the office to insurance. So I went back and forth from office to insurance and when there was an appeal needed to be made, she told me they did not do appeals. So I did 2 appeals myself. Then insurance did 1 appeal for me. Every paper that was sent in had info missing; Dr.s tax I.D. # , then it was itemized statement, and then she needed to send a corrected form to insurance and said there was no such form, so I got one off-line and filled it out myself, I faxed all info in multiple times on my dime and was getting no response from the office except that they were blaming insurance and insurance was saying that they never received any info from them; only info from me. The deadline for the refund was Jan 26, 2024. If the correct paperwork was not at insurance office by that date, I was not going to get 1 penny of the $5,062.00 that I paid. BTW, these braces were put on Jan 26, 2023, exactly 1 year! Finally I got the refund check in the mail first of Feb 2024 I know that is a lot of negative info. But it is inexcusable to make anyone wait and to make them do all the running and copying of paperwork when it was NOT my job and to make me wait 1 FULL YEAR to get MY MONEY back. So just a heads up: Do not pay the office anything until insurance pays its part first. It is not your job to do their work. The Hygienist, Techs, Dentists and the Orthodontists are amazing
