The Importance of Advertising Signs for a Growing Business

Advertising your business starts with the sign that you post outside of your door. Your sign is what customers will remember and attach to your business and your product. Whether it looks professional or amateur will go a long way to determining what clients and potential clients think of your business. Don’t judge a book by its cover, is a popular saying. It exists because it is human nature to do so. We use our visual sense in every decision that we make. What you put in front of someone’s eyes is perhaps the most decisive factor in determining what they think of you and your business.

In fact, consumers are more likely to purchase a product if they have seen the name before. Therefore advertising effectively, and making the product or sign memorable is crucial to the success and the growth of your business.  Studies have shown that one simple street sign outside of your businesses can increase sales up to 30%. Just one sign! This gives you an idea of just how powerful signs can be.


Signs show your customer what is important to you and what you offer. The best, easiest, and quickest way to get a leg up on your competitors is to get creative with your advertising. Different kinds of signs are a perfect way to get your message out there.
 
Creative Signage Options to Make Your Business Stand Out


We’ve already discussed two very important signs, the business name sign, which displays the name of your business, and street signs, which direct you to a business and/or advertises what they offer.  Now we will cover other creative and unconventional options for signs that will get your business and your product out there for potential customers to see.

1)   Vehicle Graphics   


We will cover these first since you’ve surely seen them hundreds of times as you make your routine commutes. But that’s the point, isn’t it? You’ve seen them hundreds of times. So has the customer, and so has your customer. The person sitting behind you today on your drive to work could have been the big sale of the week, or a new business partner. Had he or she known what you offer, and had a contact number, you might have made a sale just by making your normal drive to work. Imagine making sales while you’re not even working! Car advertising is especially effective because they act like a moving billboard. The amount of people who see your sign is exponential compared to the number of potential customers who happen to walk or drive by the location where your sign or billboard is stationed.  

2)   Banner Signs

The Business banner is a very effective advertising tool because it is big, colorful, yet – unlike billboards – it is also local. While billboards hang high over highways, banners can be placed in neighborhoods, intersections and local roads. The lightweight and flexible material allows it to be taken down, folded or rolled-up, and moved easily. Put banners in strategic intersections near your business to drive customers to your door step. You can advertise a special sale or offer, a new product or service, or simply the fact that your business is right around the corner.

3)   Promotional Marketing


A great way to advertise your business is to put your business’ name, number and services on a product that people will use. Most fliers and handouts quickly wind up in a trashcan, but by putting the name of your business on something that people will actually use, you improve the chances that they will hold onto it, and it will have a greater opportunity to come into contact with potential clients. Typical examples are frisbees, T-shirts and basketballs. But again, the more you step out of the ordinary, the better your chances are of really seeing impact from your advertising. Obviously finding a product that you can afford to buy in bulk, and is also somehow related to your business is the best bet.

This is also a great way to make region-specific advertisements. While businesses in Florida and California might go the frisbee route, a business in Seattle, Washington might hand out umbrellas. Again, these are quick examples; the more creative you get the more likely the potential customers will remember you.

I’m sure by now you’ve gotten the point; make an effort to stand out from the competition. By thinking creatively and presenting visually and aesthetically appealing advertisements you greatly increase the chances that potential customers will remember you. As I said at the beginning, the point of creative advertisement is to set yourself apart from your competitors so when it comes time to make a purchase the customer will remember your business first. Creative and custom signs are a great way to show customers that you have done a little extra to earn their business.
