Can't say enough about Kevin and the great work he does. We had a young dog that was very anxious, which led to bad behavior. Not only did Kevin address the behavior, but addressed the anxiety too, and she is SO much calmer now, and seems so much happier. It makes it fun to be around her. Bonus points for the fact that Kevin's instructions for owners are easy to remember and straightforward.

Wow! We cannot say enough good things about Capital Canine. We adopted our second dog Gilly in June 2021, and while she stole our hearts as the little goofy snugglebug that she is, she was also a WILD PUPPY. She used mouthing/biting to communicate everything (from “let’s play” to “stop wiping my paws!”), she went absolutely crazy jumping and screaming on the leash any time we passed another dog, she guarded toys and food, and jumped up on every human in sight. She seemed to have an endless amount of energy, and we felt helpless trying to teach her basic rules/expectations even after taking a 12-week positive reinforcement class (an approach that had worked beautifully with our first dog). We were so impressed from our first consult with Kevin from Capital Canine. It was clear from the start that he is passionate about dogs and aware of the research and rationale behind the approaches he uses. We decided to do the 2-week board and train for Gil. Kevin was so professional before and during the pick-up, sent us updates the day Gilly arrived at his house, and videos of her progress over the next two weeks. Also, it was so evident how much he liked our dog (and the feeling was mutual!)! One of the things we worried about was whether Gilly would keep her spicy little personality; we loved her goofiness and the excitement with which she approaches her life. When it was finally time for her to come home, it was 100% clear that she was still the same little goofball that left! Gilly was much more attuned to us and aware of the rules when she got home, and Kevin met with us weekly to explain to us, in manageable steps, what we needed to work on each week so that Gilly could generalize her new behaviors to our home and continue to make progress. Now (6 weeks after her return), Gilly responds when we give her commands, she follows the rules of the house, she walks like an absolute champ on a leash, we can even have her off leash at parks and trust we can maintain her attention, even when distractions are high. We have no problems with jumping or mouthing, and we just feel so much more bonded to our little goofball all thanks to Capital Canine!

Kevin handled our our exuberant border collie wonderfully. We now enjoy walking and playing with our dog without the constant jumping and pulling on his leash. He also barked excessively, and Kevin gave us some helpful methods to lessen the disruptions. The board and train system worked well for us and our dog, but the in home sessions were invaluable. We highly recommend Kevin and Capital Canine!

Kevin has been such a game changer for us! We have a Husky pup who just would simply run away and definitely has dog ADHD :) Kevin was so attentive to us and far exceeded our expectations. We were able to take Koda to our 6 acres of land we are building on that isn’t fenced in and it was so nice to have him close. If you are on the fence I promise you just do it. I wish I would’ve reached out months before I actually did.

Kevin worked with our two pit mixes who were getting in fights all the time. Both dogs were prescribed by their vet with anti-anxiety medication and trazadone. They were living in complete separation for almost 2 years because of the fights. Kevin got them completely off of their anxiety medications and everything is so much more manageable now. From in home behavior and manners, to playing with other dogs, to walking next to us on walks (and behaving), even letting us trim their nails without a fight - all of which we never thought was possible. We did the board and train for one of our dogs, and the day immersion for the other. We saw results right away, and have been able to maintain over the past couple months beyond training as well. Kevin is extremely knowledgeable, kind, and patient, and he went above and beyond for us. We have a happier life now all thanks to him and his team. Best investment we could have made for our little family!
